Joseph Rodgers Knives have a proud legacy dating back to the early 1700s. Like many of Sheffield’s historic cutlery firms, their early history is a little unclear. It’s believed that a cutler named Joseph or John Rodgers operated out of a building in Hawley Croft—close to the location of Sheffield’s present-day cathedral. In 1730, his sons Maurice and Joseph took over.
Rodgers focused on producing the finest quality Joseph Rodgers Knives, prioritising excellence in both materials and workmanship. Each knife was branded with the iconic Star and Cross as a mark of quality. So respected was the brand that “Rujjus”—a variation of “Rodgers”—entered the Sinhalese dialect as a term for something of outstanding quality.
