130 KG Monster Cast Steel Blacksmith London Style Anvil

This is our Australian Made model anvil.

The metal is sourced from workshops in Australia as steel scrap and melted in our furnaces. We then analysed the liquid bath and added the appropriate alloys to get the desired composition before pouring into the sand mould.

They anvils are made in AISI 8630 alloy steel which has 0.3% C, 0.5% Si, 1.0% Mn, 0.55% Cr, 0.5% Ni, 0.23% Mo.

The castings were then normalised at 950 degC, quenched and tempered at 520 degC.

Hardness is approximately 300-340 BHN.

These Monster 130KG anvils are Large! they are designed to take a pounding and last for generations. Made in Australia from high quality 8630 steel, these anvils are made from the classic London style anvil shape that has been proven for decades. these anvils come with a machined face, machined offset table face. The entire anvils are hardened not just the face. they have 2 bolt holes in the base to mount them and the face comes lightly dressed.

Dressing the anvil face:

Dressing the anvil is done by rounding the edges using a flap wheel on an angle grinder, or hand files. And the round horn ground nice and even to remove cast marks and the black paint. This dressing makes the anvil more useful, as forging with the sharp corners tend to pinch the steel and create cracks.
