60 KG Cast Steel Blacksmith Anvil
Cast steel anvil in 1050 carbon steel, good for knife makers wanting to forge their own blades.
These are Nordic Edged branded anvils in a stocky version of the blacksmith anvil shape, popular with knife makers and blacksmiths due to round horn and big, flat face.
The anvil face is milled flat and the rest of the anvil is coated in black for corrosion resistance.
At a weight of 60 kg these are suitable for most general knife making and blacksmithing jobs including hammers and axes.
A cost effective way into blacksmithing:
- Hardened to 56-57 HRC on the face
- Face is 34 x 110 cm plus cutting step
- Round Horn
- Square hardy hole 22 x 22 mm
- Round pritchel hole 15 mm
- Anvil foot is 245 x 245 cm
These are cast and hardened and are flat and hard, but will need to be dressed for best results. Length is 550 mm, height 225 mm.
Dressing the anvil is done by rounding the edges using a flap wheel on an angle grinder, or hand files. And the round horn ground nice and even to remove cast marks and the black paint. This dressing makes the anvil more useful, as forging with the sharp corners tend to pinch the steel and create cracks.
These are cast from 1050 steel with Carbon content 0,54%, Silicone 0.255%, Manganese 0.775%, Sulfur 0.016% and Phosphorous 0.012%.
